A mole inside the Barclaycard bank?
Posted by: ITGuy

About 2 months ago whiles checking online my statement of my Barclaycard I discovered that I transferred £1000 pounds to another card. I instantly contacted Customer Service of Barclaycard and I was told that it was me who transferred this money to a CapitalOne card. I do not have a CapitalOne card and I did not recognise the transaction. The agent however started digging and told me that the balance transfer was made by mistake and it would be corrected. When I asked to cancel my card and send me another I was told that this should not be necessary as the mistake was made internally and my details had not been compromised. I however decided to cancel that anyway. What come to my attention was a fact that: 1. 'Mistake' was made after I paid in £1000 2. Also shortly after I registered a chargeback against a company which took my money and ceased to trade 3. After I spoke to a chargeback department regarding both cases. It looked to me that while calling and asking for all the paperwork regarding the chargeback I drew attention to my account and someone inside the bank used my details or maybe compromised them elsewhere and that was why the balance transfer took place. Strangely when I was calling to a fraudulent transactions department I felt like all consultants did not want to disclose what really happened. I received only a short letter telling me that that was probably me who compromised my details. First, I did not use my card on any suspicious websites, did not share my personal details with anybody and most importantly did not call to authorise the balance transfer. Second, I assume that this balance transfer was requested over the phone and someone passed all security questions. Could anybody tell me how this could happen without any sort of help from inside the bank? I received my money back but it took some time of course. I am writing this as a warning and am able to submit more details if the bank is willing to re-investigate.

The case has NOT been resolved.

I am not able to get any response from Company.

Thank you for not even trying to resolve the issue, for not even trying to gather more information from me and that no-one can be asked to respond.Complete lack of interest in resolving this issue and interest in finding out who could use access to bank database. Overall big minus 5.
